The Ride was Fabulous

Weather gods were smiling yesterday. As Mike and I set off for Albert Park to start the ride, the dawn colours over the city were pastel pinks blues tinged with a golden glow.
The new 50km route avoided many traffic lights and we were soon over the Westgate and down into Williamstown. Lots of Smith Family Allstars jerseys were spyed along the way ..... Alexis, Gareth, Vicky, Mathieu, and their buddies... with Tim and Anton blasting past us in Port Melbourne.
Mike (my hubby) and I managed to stay in sight of each other this ride.... he was on his mountain bike which did make it easier for me to stay in touch.
And after my ride I loved seeing the smiles come to faces of the weary riders as they came to the finishing line. Incredible feats... 300km!! Tandems, lots of lycra. Men, women .... old and young...
Lots of young children too - with one young lad who was probs about 10 speeding past me towards the finishing line - escorted by his mum who proudly told me that he'd raised $600!
Thanks for your sponsorship on our ride this year.
Uh Oh the lurgy strikes

Spring has really sprung just as the lurgy strikes... I've missed a couple great rides with my COTA buddies.... down the bay and Yea rail trail.
At least with lemon tea, tissues, the couch and The GoodWife on TV, life is bearable. Smart of Mike to escape to Sydney this week so he doesn't have to share the germs.
Looking forward to getting back on the bike on Sunday and hoping I'll have recovered enough to do the 50km.
COTA buddies help raise funds through a BUPA ad
And today something completely different :)
Had a fun time this morning with Janet B, Ralph and Richard as we played ourselves in cycling gear, having coffee for a BUPA ad.
The good folks at Hardhat Digital have kindly agreed to donate some funds to The Smith Family for our time.
Craigieburn to City with COTA - 58kms today

Had great weather for yesterday's trek from Craigieburn to the City .. and downhill all the way. Trained out to Craigieburn through The Smith Family territory of Broadmeadows/Jacana etc.
Stopped to watch a mob of Roos With a View.
Lunched at Pentridge and then back through Richmond - another Smith Family scholarship location.
For the newcomers to the group, I joined COTA about 4 years ago to get some more kms in the legs ahead of doing the 210km Around the Bay ride. Loved the group so much that I've stayed :)
Friday 21 Sept with my TSF Allstars Team
Fab morning.... sunshine everywhere for today's ride with Alexis, Vicky, Gareth, Tim and Anton around Albert Park Lake track ....
40kms for me. So great to see Alexis get on my old mtn bike (with slimmer tyres) for the first time on a bike in 15 years!!. She did sooo well... pace was around 23km average.
Wed 19 Sept COTA ride
Di (on her first ride as leader) took us on a loop around through the Docklands and onto the Capital City Trail, and back onto the Main Yarra Trail to the city. The forecast rain meant people stayed away, but the sun was shining.
Only 30km today.
Wed COTA ride 12 Sept

Tony lead us up the Darebin Trail and back down the Merri Creek trail - I think it was 60km for me. Found some interesting street art along the northern ring road trail.
Thanks to my COTA buddies for helping me in my preparations.
Wed COTA Ride 5 Sept

A fab day Wednesday for 45kms with my COTA cycling buddies... Main Yarra Trail, Anniversary Trail, the Pipe Bridge and back past the Collingwood Children's Far.
